SQL/Pro 4.1

Use SQL? Are you compliant?

IBM's SQL is an auditor's worst nightmare. Sure, it's powerful and relatively easy to use. But SQL can also be used to copy, change or delete whole reams of data, which can be done on the fly in relative obscurity. Just what the auditor's don't want!

A superior alternative to IBM's SQL/400!

ProData's SQL/Pro, on the otherhand, is similar in power yet provides controls that auditor's are looking for. SQL/Pro is a software program that takes the complex structure of SQL and breaks it down to a simple English-like language for everyone to understand. Technical and non-technical users alike can implement SQL/Pro to query, print and manipulate data in almost any way imaginable. Add, change, deletes can be protected on a user profile basis, which means authority can be dished out in spoonfuls to only the 'right' users. Taking it one step further, updating records via SQL/Pro can be completely eliminated and changes could be made via ProData's powerful database utility, DBU. The Search & Replace feature within DBU can handle database fixes in a faster and easier manner than SQL!

Auditors love this because DBU Audit journals each and every DBU change to all databases on their iSeries. DBU Audit works by journaling all adds, changes, deletes, reactivation of deleted records and VIEWING of sensitive data made by users thru DBU to a standalone IBM journal. DBU Audit enables administrators to start and stop auditing, monitor access and changes to data, display the audit information and generate reports for SOX or other regulatory compliance mandates.

So plug-in to compliance today! Use ProData's SQL/Pro and DBU. It will keep your auditor's happy and still provide the access you need to your databases!

SQL/Pro Features:

Create Formatted Reports

You can perform extensive formatting on any SQL report. An easy-to-use screen allows you to position fields, use edit codes, assign meaningful column headings, include headers and footers, assign page breaks, and create multi-level group totals. Users with no programming experience will be able to easily produce sophisticated reports in no time. Once a formatted report has been created, you can name and save it as a Saved Query, which can then be run as a simple command.

Interactive Statement Entry

Key your SQL statement interactively. Then insert, split, copy and delete functions make it easy to alter the statements. Once the statement is finished, it can then be run interactively or in batch. Output can be back to the display, the printer or a database file.

Run any interactive AS/400 SQL statement.

SQL/Pro will run any interactive AS/400 SQL statement - those available now or in the future.

Field Name Prompting

There's no need to remember the names of fields that you will be inserting in SQL statements. A file's field name and attributes are a function key away for automatic insertion into your statement.

File Member Support

SQL/Pro prompts the user with a list of members in the file. Individual members may then be selected for processing.

Variable insertion

You can insert variables into SQL statements and have SQL prompt you for the values at execution time. For example, you could create a statement that lists total sales for a salesperson. Since you may run this for many different salespeople from time to time, you enter a variable instead of hard coding a salesperson's ID in the SQL statement. When you run the statement, you will be prompted for the salesperson's ID.

Unlimited history retrieval

SQL/Pro keeps a record of every statement you run for as long as you desire. You can browse through the history to look for previous statements, then retrieve, optionally modify, re-run or purge at any time.

Submission of dynamic statement to batch

You can run any Saved Query or dynamic SQL statement in a CL program.

Save queries for reuse or on menus

This unique feature lets you save and name any SQL statement. Once saved, you can retrieve and run it from the Saved Queries screen. One benefit of this is that you can create and name often-run queries for non-technical users. All they have to do is select the Saved Query they want and run it. (Saved Queries are actually objects that can be secured.)

Embed SQL statements in CL

Security

SQL/Pro uses the standard object-level security; your data's security is not compromised.

SQL/Pro is easy to use. Just key in the STRPDSQL command and the development screen appears. The powerful report formatter will save time and money. The queries can be saved to be used again and again. The available documentation will help you thru any questions you may have. If your AS/400 staff is bogged down by report requests, requests for management reports, and ad hoc queries, you need SQL/Pro.
