ProData Announces More DBU Features

Omaha, NE, April 03, 2002 - ProData Computer Services, Inc. today announced new features in DBU 6.0 database utility. The software now includes the ability to create file subsets on the fly, utilize additional options in displaying the data and the ability to view journals.

DBU 6.0, the first database utility to offer access to iSeries DB2 data thru multiple methods under one umbrella, transcends the boundaries of a typical ‘file editor’. Users have the choice between a DBU/GUI(client), the traditional green screen version(server), or thru the Operations Navigator plug-in. Using any of these interfaces, a user can improve productivity by easily accessing database files for research, file maintenance or other services they need to get their job done while significantly reducing time and cost.

File Subsets can now be easily created thru the Search feature. Search criteria may be entered and a subset of records matching the criteria is created. These records can be viewed thru the multiple display features now available. Additionally, users can now create output files from the DBUJRN command interactively or in batch. The output files contain the journal information plus the file/field information. The standard DSPJRN command only outputs a file with the journal information and one big field of raw data that the user could not read. This new file structure will allow the user to easily understand and report from the journals.

With these additions, ProData continues to offer a feature-rich database utility that loyal followers have come to expect. The performance & functionality of DBU continues to provide quick and easy access to all information about and contained within the database. Using DBU 6.0 analysts can research or edit field contents, reactivate deleted records and include these records for search functions, and even create database maintenance applications. Security can be tailored to user-profiles and audit trails can monitor file modifications.

"With these additional features, we continue to offer innovative enhancements to make this a ‘do all’ database utility for all iSeries 400 shops," said Allen Hartley, one of the owners & chief technologist at ProData. DBU 6.0 is designed to complement other ProData productivity utilities for the iSeries 400 and can be packaged with SQL/PRO, RDR (Retrieve Deleted Records) or additional programmer tools offered by ProData.

Price and Availability

DBU 6.0 is available now for $1995. The price for DBU on a partitioned system is $3490.00. DBU 6.0 comes with an UNLIMITED green-screen user license and ONE single user license for DBU/GUI. Additional client licenses can be purchased in increments of 5 for $250.
